Registration of visas in Russia

All Russian Visas should be registered upon arrival to the Russian Federation!

According to Russian law, you have to register your Russian visa within 3 business days upon your arrival in Russia (excluding weekends and local holidays). Please note that your visa should be registered if you stay in any Russian city longer than three business days. A registration stamp goes on the WHITE MIGRATION CARD that you will be given upon crossing the Russian border. Please make sure that you retain this card as you will need to show it upon exiting the country.

If you are staying at a hotel, the hotel will register your visa. You will be asked for your passport, visa and the migration card. Please have the hotel stamp your migration card. Some hotels charge a nominal fee for the service.
If you are staying at a private apartment in St. Petersburg: you will need to get in in touch with our partner office in St. Petersburg. We will provide written registration procedures as well as the office contact details after we receive your order. They will be able to take care of your tourist or business visa registration. Registration fee of $20/tourist, $25/business is payable directly at the St. Petersburg office.
If you are staying at a private apartment in Moscow: please get in touch with our office at 29 Leninsky Prospekt, telephone: (495) 545 8690. To register your visa in Moscow you will have to present permission from your landlord stamped by the local residence office called DEZ. Moscow is a special city and registration rules may change by the time you travel. Please call the above number for the most up to date information and instructions
.
For Tourist visas: Moscow has different registration rules. The best option is to personally go to the local Passport and Visa Department of the local Police Precinct and get your visa registered for a nominal fee. An original letter from our office will be needed. Experience shows that this is an easy enough procedure. Our Moscow office will gladly provide information and help fill out the forms free of charge.
For Business visas: Our office will submit documents to the central UVIR on your behalf.
You should apply to our Moscow office for registration, providing the following documents:
-the original copy of your passport
- immigration card with an entry stamp
- registration application (the form is in Russian and we would be happy to fill it out for you)
- permission from your landlord stamped by the local residence office called DEZ
(please download a sample here)
A registration fee ($25-$50 depending on the duration of your stay) is payable directly at the Moscow office. While your documents are being registered, we will provide you with an official receipt that acts in place of your documents during the UVIR registration. We can not process your registration without the original of your passport. Registration will take minimum 5 working days.
Multiple entry business visas for 1 year are registered for 6 months only. Foreign citizens with 1-year business visas will have to leave Russia after the first 6 months spent in the country. Registration is to be renewed after foreign citizens reenter Russia.
If you are traveling to any other Russian city: You have to go to the local OVIR to get your visa registered. Please be advised that local authorities tend to change the rules of registration without any notice, please contact our Moscow office in advance for up to date information at
(495) 545 8690. Should you need a formal letter of introduction to the local OVIR while traveling, please contact our office. You will need to provide us with your visa details after it has been issued to obtain such letter. The UVIR introduction letter is given free of charge.
Please note: that not registering your Russian visa may lead to serious problems: detention by police, fines on departure, prevention from boarding the plane, etc. We strongly advise you to register your Russian visa to avoid possible unnecessary inconveniences.
Please note: that your Russian visa is an exit permit just like it's an entry permit: if you lose it or stay over your designated departure date, leaving the country could be more troublesome than entering it. Your visa is valid only for the period it is issued and cannot be extended while in Russia.

Migration Card: All foreigners entering Russia must fill out a migration card, depositing one part with immigration authorities at the point of entry and holding on to the other part for the duration of their stay. Upon exit, the migration card, which serves as a statistical tool and a record of entry, exit, and registration, must be submitted to immigration authorities when the holder leaves the country. The card is also necessary for visa registration.
